Patrick Brocorens obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Mons (Belgium) in 2002, studying the morphology of dendrimers by molecular modeling techniques. In 2005, he came back to the Laboratory for Chemistry of Novel Materials as a postdoctoral fellow. His research interests mostly deal with the organization and morphological properties of liquid crystals, conjugated polymers, and clay/polymer composites by a combination of simulation techniques and atomic force microscopy. In 2008, he joined the staff at the University of Mons as a junior lecturer, and created the Belgian section of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil and gas (ASPO), an association studying the consequences for Mankind of the peaking and decline of the world oil production.
